I grew up in a small rural community in southern Utah where my father was a feature writer for the "Deseret News". I gained an interest in photography as a kid tagging along with him as he interviewed and photographed unusual people for his articles. After graduating from the University of Utah, I decided to head off to California to experience a different life style.

Eventually I ended up in LA  photographing and interviewing women on skid row in the downtown area. The photography and interaction with my subjects was the adventure and the photographs my trophies.

Another documentary series I worked on for about ten years is called "Gender Benders"  which is about people who don't fit into a traditional role of being strictly male or female. Interviews and photographs of these people are in the "Gender Benders" gallery. The "Gender Benders" book is available on the Blurb website.

For many years I have photographed around my home town in Utah whenever I return to visit. I've had the opportunity to interview and photograph many interesting characters including a famous polygamous woman, named Kaziah and a mortician who also doubled as a sheriff. In this series there are also photographs of other colorful locals as well as beautiful scenery.

My two most imaginative works are the "Fears and Phobias" series which are autobiographical accounts inspired by fantasy as well as dreams and the "Erotic Fruits and Vegetables" series that represent erotic illusions. These objects are converted from their customary purpose and are reallocated to ambivalent and/or ambiguous symbolic roles.
